Dr. Bilal Ansari is a Staff Anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor at Toronto General Hospital, specializing in cardiothoracic anesthesia, transesophageal echocardiography, and regional anesthesia techniques for cardiac and thoracic surgery. With extensive clinical and research experience, Dr. Ansari has contributed significantly to advancing perioperative care, pain management strategies, and quality improvement initiatives in anesthesia.
Dr. Ansari earned his MB BCh BAO from the National University of Ireland, Galway, followed by specialist training in anesthesia through the College of Anaesthetists of Ireland. He later obtained a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in anesthesia research, focusing on ventilator-induced lung injury and pulmonary inflammation. His advanced training includes fellowships in cardiac anesthesia, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and clinical research at leading institutions, including Toronto General Hospital and Papworth Hospital, Cambridge.
Beyond his clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Ansari is committed to quality improvement in perioperative care, leading projects on enhanced recovery protocols and regional anesthesia for cardiothoracic surgery.
