Scottish Right Heart Symposium 2026

Building on the success of the last four meetings, we are pleased to announce that the fifth Scottish Right Heart Symposium is now open for booking. This will take place on Wednesday 18th November 2026 at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel.

As per the previous meetings, the Scottish Right Heart Symposium will be a specialised meeting covering everything right heart and pulmonary circulation. It will bring together a multi-disciplinary team of experts and will cover, clinical challenges, novel therapeutic techniques, clinical management, emerging assessment methods and cutting-edge basic science.

As before we hope attendance will be truly multidisciplinary – previously we have had great representation from medical, nursing, allied health, physiologists and clinician and basic scientists in addition to under- and post-graduate students. Again, we look forward to welcoming a strong international faculty.

Speaker highlights include

• Prof. Mike Grocott: University of Southampton
  The right ventricle and pulmonary circulation at altitude - insights from the Xtreme Everest consortium.
• Dr Russell Everett: Victoria Hospital, NHS Fife
  Multimodal assessment of the tricuspid valve.
• Prof. Joerg Ender: University of Leipzig / Heart Centre, Leipzig
  Early experience with the BD Swan-Ganz IQ right heart catheter at Leipzig Heart Centre.
• Prof. David Oxborough: Liverpool John Moores University
  The right ventricle and physiological athletic remodelling.

By popular demand, the Scottish Right Heart Symposium will again be accompanied by an RV Echo Masterclass the day before the main meeting on Tuesday 17th November.
 
Additionally, we will be accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentation. Abstracts will be judged with prizes awarded and all orally presented abstracts published in the prestigious British Journal of Anaesthesia.

Abstracts

Abstracts will open on Monday 3rd August and close on Friday 25th September, with successful authors notified by Friday 9th October. Details will be available soon.
