Filip De Somer has been a clinical perfusionist for over 40 years. He is a member of the Institute of Biomedical Technology of Ghent University. His main research interest are mechanical circulatory support, CPB, blood-material interaction and vascular access. He authors or co-authors over 100 peer reviewed articles. At present he is the chair of the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion an associated editor for Perfusion and The International Journal of Artificial Organs.
