Professor Ben Shelley is a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital and Hon. Professor at the University of Glasgow. He is NHS Research Scotland National Specialty Lead for Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine, is a Trustee of the British Journal of Anaesthesia, President of the Anaesthetic Research Society, and graduate of the Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network’s ‘Chief Investigator Training scheme’. In 2021 Professor Shelley was awarded the prestigious National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia / Royal College of Anaesthetists British Oxygen Company Chair of Anaesthesia Research Grant to continue his groups’ work into the ‘Impact, Mechanisms and Prevention of Perioperative Right Ventricular Dysfunction’ (IMPRoVE).
