Andre Ng trained in Medicine at the University of Glasgow where he obtained his PhD in Cardiology and Physiology before becoming Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester in 2002 and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. In 2013, he was awarded a Personal Chair and became Professor of Cardiac Electrophysiology, followed by Head of Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester since 2020. He is Director of the new Leicester British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Research Excellence as well as co-Director of the BHF 4yr PhD programme at Leicester. He is a clinical expert in heart rhythm management and champions innovation in clinical interventions. Professor Ng is a recognized leader in early technology evaluation in cardiac electrophysiology, in particular new mapping tools and ablation catheters. He has proctored at many centres worldwide on novel electrophysiology technologies and is director of international training courses. He leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers spanning preclinical, clinical and engineering / mathematical science with funding from the BHF, Medical Research Council, National Institute for Health and Care Research and European Space Agency. He is President of the British Cardiovascular Society.
