Background / Speciality

I am a cardiothoracic anaesthetist, trained in Leicester, Nottingham and Papworth Cambridge. I specialise in complex adult cardiac and aortic work. I am an honorary professor in anaesthesia at the University of Leicester and my research interests are around the management of perioperative bleeding, haemostasis and patient blood management. I am a co-author of several international guidelines in this field.

I was appointed to the executive in 2019 where my responsibilities have included chairing the cardiac committee, representing ACTACC at the College of Perfusion Scientists, securing industry sponsorship and contributing to the GPAS Guidelines at the Royal College.
