President's Message - July 2017
A short message from the new ACTACC President

 Dear ACTACC member,

Earlier this year it came as a great surprise to be asked by the committee to consider taking over from Nick as President of ACTACC. I consider it a great honour and hope that I will live up to the expectation and confidence that the Association is putting in me. Our grateful thanks go to Nick for all he has done and how he has led us through the last couple of years, especially with the change of name and in our dealings with other bodies, such as the RCoA and FICM.

My first duty gave me much pleasure - to award Honorary Life Membership to David Whitaker in recognition of all that he has done over the years, for us and cardiothoracic anaesthesia as a whole, as Chairman (president) of ACTA, as President of AAGBI and then as an RCoA Council member.

At the recent meeting in Birmingham we had an informal get-together of the Link persons (or someone deputising for them). It went well and there was a desire among them that this would become a regular occurrence. In the next few months we are aiming to develop communication between the committee and the Link persons and between the Link persons themselves as well as making it easier for everyone to access the committee. As a committee we want to hear from you and to seek to address the needs and issues that our membership have.

In the next e-newsletter I’ll bring you the major points from the AGM in Birmingham.

Finally, may I wish all of you a great summer, with good periods of rest and refreshment.

Dr Kathryn Moyna Bill
